This is the basic developmental course for dogs twelve weeks to six months in age. It focuses on socialization with other people and puppies, and provides an introduction to obedience work with exercises designed for puppies. Puppies are taught to come when called, walk on a loose lead, sit, stand and lie down when commanded and to stay. Owners also learn ways to prevent many common problems.
Obedience progress awards are one of the measures of achievement that are conducted on a regular basis at the club. Members of the club are under no pressure to take part in any assessment. The club is for the enjoyment of the members. Members often want to know that they have achieved and like to be able to make progress through the class levels.
