Entry is where no previous experience in agility classes or training has been undertaken. Dogs must be twelve months old prior to commencement of this full class of instruction.
Handlers with Dogs under twelve months old may attend the class for socialization; we would be pleased to see them.
Dogs between ten and twelve months may take part but on a limited basis, young dogs will not be allowed to jump or weave. Exercises on contacts may be started but the equipment will be flat on the ground. Introduction to tunnels can be practised.
Dogs should be socialised and trained in obedience, the dog should be able to return to the handler on command. The dog should be able to stay in either (sit, down or stand) in position prior to commencing an exercise. These disciplines are taught at Reading BAGDS Obedience Classes .
If you have any issues with your dog that may cause a problem please contact Terry Hooper. The basics are taught bearing in mind health and safety procedures, instruction is given on contact equipment, and jumping of hurdles at a low level. Running contacts on contact equipment at this stage is not recommended.
