Agility awards are one of the measures of achievement that are conducted on a regular basis at the club. Members of the club are under no pressure to take part in any assessment. The club is for the enjoyment of the members. Members often want to know that they have achieved and like to be able to make progress through the class levels.
Upon graduation, certificates and rosettes are presented to handlers that have achieved the required standard, the graduated dogs and handlers then progress to the next class if they are happy to do so. Graduation is by the dog and handler other combinations are not recognised. The requirements of the class to be trained and then assessed are made available at the commencement of the course. Dogs and handlers work through each exercise developing their skills and experience. This process allows for individual development with dogs and handlers through the classes at a speed that they wish to develop. There are no examination fees.
The normal weekly class fee is charged during the course and on the day of the examination. The information contained in all aspects of the awards and class documents is for the training of German Shepherd Dogs; these must not be used for any other breed without consultation with a qualified instructor. The award scheme is a non-profit making organisation within the Reading BAGSD club; the weekly fees are invested in the club and its members.
